3 Tips on Buying the Right Maternity Clothes

You mean I could be pregnant AND comfortable?

There’s really no way around it. You’re pregnant. You’re bloated. And MY, MY, MY…How you’ve grown! You need maternity clothes. They will help you feel more comfortable during your pregnancy. You will eventually (and the sooner the better) need to put together a complete maternity wardrobe. You need clothes for lounging around. But you also need some stylish clothes to leave the house in, right?

Most women tend to buy cotton and outfits that have an elastic waist so they can fit into them throughout the pregnancy.  The quality maternity clothes out there will be soft, breathable, and stretchable. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean they all come cheap. The maternity wear industry figured out a long time ago that they can make tons of money off of us poor pragnant women. But alas, it is a necessary burden that we all undertake once we become pregnant.

You will to still have to shop around for maternity clothes that fit your style and budget. There are 3 things you should be looking for when shopping for maternity clothes: Comfort, Price, and Versatility. It’s important to make sure that whatever you are buying has satisfied your standards in all 3 categories.

Here are a few tips to help you along the way…

Comfort
Regardless of what you might think, you are going to want to be as comfortable as possible. So that will be your number one priority in the clothing department!  Luckily, most maternity clothing is tailored FOR YOU! It’s funny how women of all shapes and sizes begin to resemble one another in shape and size once they hit that end of that second trimester. So if you don’t feel 100% comfy…don’t buy it. It’s only for 9 months, so get yourself outfits that you will actually wear and feel good in.

Price
While the whole concept of maternity clothing is built around free flowing cotton, it does not always translate into being so affordable. As with all shopping missions, you will want to shop around and find the best deals that suit your budget. They’re out there and you can find a great deal. Just make sure you don’t empty out your bank account at he first store you visit.

Versatility

This is the best of both worlds. If you can find an extremely versatile maternity wardrobe at a great price, then you have found the pregnant woman’s holy grail. Even if they have or plan on having another child, they will ultimately shop for a brand new clothes. So, be sure to purchase solid colors that are versatile. And try to find a few “casual chic” ensembles. When these slightly “dressy” outfits have lost a bit of their luster, you can use them for the more casual times or even lounging around. Remember, these are outfits you will wear a few times over a period of 9 months.

Besides being extremely comfortable, maternity clothes should also match your personality. So when you’re shopping, don’t hold back. Have some fun. Don’t let shopping for maternity clothes stress you out. Laugh, play, giggle…Have fun at the mall. You remember what it was like. Motherhood is on its way and there will be plenty of seriousness to take part in later. So for now, grab some friends and have a holly jolly shopping experience. You remember what it was like.
